Packard Bayliff Custom Automotive has designed and built this special automobile using the finest design, engineering, material and craftsmanship and have been building the very best since 1978 in Lima, Ohio. This amazing custom creation features classic styling of what appears to be a ‘modern Packard’ and is reliable, safe, fast and fun to drive.

After spending nearly three years in the vendor’s custom shop, this custom-built Packard remains titled from its original base car. It has been styled with pontoon fenders similar to custom Packards owned by Clark Gable and Gary Cooper of early movie fame and features cut-down doors that are reminiscent of the Darrin cars as well as Sakhnoffsky coachbuilt examples from the immediate pre-war period.

The custom body and fenders with skirts feature steel-reinforced and laminated five-layer composite construction throughout. Special Packard styled chrome front and rear bumpers set off the look of the car as do the Zenith Chrome 16″ wires that are shod with Diamond Back 750R16 radial wide white period-correct tires. The car’s convertible top is made from Haartz cloth and styled after the ’34 Packard Bayliff with a matching interior leather top boot cover. The top is manually-operated and can be raised and lowered easily by two people. Even the 1934-style windshield surrounded by chrome and shaped in a V was painstakingly done for maximum effect. The custom interior comprises two-tone leather seats with six-way power adjustments as well as similarly-upholstered door and kick panels, custom tweed carpets with leather bindings and a tweed-covered convertible top well. The Packard-styled banjo steering wheel complements the hard-wood dash and matching door upper trim moldings, while the center instrument panel boasts six gauges featuring a large speedometer and tachometer.

For comfort, a custom air conditioning system and power windows were fitted, while as a gesture to safety, the car features power brakes. Under the hood, a modern GM small-block V-8 topped off by a Holley carburetor puts out 325 horsepower and is backed up by an overdrive automatic transmission with a 1930s-style chrome floor shifter and central handbrake lever as the original car would have offered. As a concession to original aesthetics, the modern engine features Packard V-12 custom-styled ‘faux heads’ and a retro air cleaner. The frame of the car is custom, featuring Lincoln front suspension and steering with a Ford Explorer rear suspension, differential and axle.
