In the fifties, in East Germany, the
BMW factory at Eisenach was seized by the Soviets. The cars built there
were called EMW’s. BMW prevented the use of the logo and double grill.
The EMW cars stopped production in 1955. These cars have a stylish look
because they are the style of pre-war cars made in the 1930’s by BMW.
BMW had it’s production banned during WWII and was not able to produce a
car until 1952.
